Laser Tattoo Removal is a safe and effective procedure of removing unwanted tattoos, producing great results. Pigment colours are broken up with a high intensity light beam, of which after many sessions, the body breaks down the pigment causing it to fade.

Do I need a patch test?
Yes, you require a patch test 48 hours prior to your appointment to test the suitability for the treatments and a thorough consultation
Will any medications effect my treatment?
The use of medication may induce hyperpigmentation, hypo pigmentation, dermatitis or even blister formations and burns. A test maybe carried out to test the outcome if you are on the following medications:
chelating agents diuretics
Do I need to do anything before my laser tattoo removal appointment?
Avoid shaving or exfoliating the area before your treatment
Wear loose-fitting clothes on the day.
Avoid alcohol or smoking the night before and on the day of the treatment.
Drink at least 1 litre of water the day before and the day of treatment - this helps your body to regulate its temperature.
Arrive early prior so that you are relaxed.
Do not exercise before the treatment.
Avoid applying any products on areas of treatment, keep it dry and clean prior to treatment.
Do not expose the skin to UV light (sunlight or sunbeds) or apply any self-tanning products for 8 weeks prior to treatment.

How long does the treatment take?
Treatment times vary according to size of area. For a small tattoo it can take up to 15-20 minutes per session.
Is laser tattoo removal safe?
Yes, the laser energy if only absorbed by the ink particles, leaving the surrounding area unaffected and undamaged.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe the sensation as similar to that of a rubber band snapping onto the skin. A lot of energy is needed for the laser to break up ink particles under your skin.
How many sessions will I need?
For the best results we recommend a course of 6 - 10 Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments with a gap of between 6 and 12 weeks between each appointment for recovery time. Your practitioner will advise you at your consultation the best course for you to achieve optimum results.
Can I have laser tattoo removal with a suntan?
We are able to treat both most skin types and suntanned skin (natural tan) at any time of the year.
I'm pregnant is this suitable for me?
No, we recommend you wait until after your pregnancy to start you laser tattoo removal treatment plan.
What results can I expect?

What should I be doing after my treatment?
Apply a cold compress to the area after treatment- keep the area cool
For 3 days after the treatment, keep the treated area bandaged with sterile gauze and protected with a thin layer of antibiotic or healing ointment. After 3 days, keep the treated area clean and dry during the healing process.
Avoid exercising for at least 48 hours.
Blistering is common after laser treatment and is a part of the natural healing process. Do not be alarmed by blisters, but do protect the area and apply an ointment for at least 24 hours after the blisters have popped
Do not pick any scabs that form. This step is very important to prevent scarring.
Avoid hot baths and hot showers for 48 hours.
Avoid anything that involves chlorine (e.g. swimming) for 48 hours.
Avoid make-up on the treated area for at least 48 hours.
Avoid the application of perfumed products or bleaching creams for 48 hours.
Avoid scratching the treatment area if blistering or crusting occurs, as this can cause scarring.
Itching is very common due to the dehydrating effect of the laser. Use Vitamin E ointment
Wear a sun block of SPF 25 or higher over the area for 3 months following treatment.
Avoid exposing skin to UV light (sunlight or sunbeds) or self-tan for at least 2 weeks after treatment. This is to minimise darkening of the skin (hyperpigmentation).
Avoid heat treatments such as spas, steam rooms and saunas for 7 days.
Avoid excessive scrubbing or applying pressure to the skin for 4-5 days. This is to allow the treated skin to recover and to prevent any infection.
