Tinting

If you are fed up of filling your eyebrows every day or have fair coloured lashes and want to avoid applying mascara, our tinting treatment is suitable for you. Tinting is a completely painless semi-permanent colour option which gives you a long lasting, natural and a fuller look to your brows and lashes.

Benefits of Tinting

Tinting is a quick procedure is suitable for you if you want to emphasise your brows and lashes giving them a naturally darker fuller look, or if you are allergic to mascara or have make up issues and want to save time in the morning in having to do this all.

How is tinting done?

Tinting is similar as having your hair dyed. Firstly, petroleum jelly is applied to the skin around the area to stop the dye from staining your skin. A semi-permanent dye is custom mixed to get the perfect shade for you. The tint is then left on for different amounts of time to achieve the right shade. This process can take up to 5-10 minutes depending on your hair type.

Is there anything I need to do before my tinting treatment? Tinting Pre-care?

Firstly, please make sure you are aware of the patch test requirements. If you are having your eyelashes tinted and wear contact lenses, bring your solution and case with you to pop your contacts in for the time you are having the tinting treatment. Make sure you have clean lashes and brows free from any residue from any oils and tanning products. This will allow your tint to absorb properly.

How long does tinting last?

Tinting can usually last up to 3-4 weeks, this varies from person to person depending on your skincare routine, skin type and your exposure to the sun which fades the pigment quickly. The tint fades away naturally and we recommend a touch up every 4 weeks.

How old must I be to have this done?

From age of 16+ you can receive this service

Can I tint more than just my eyebrows?

Tinting can be done on your eyebrows and eyelashes only.

Can I choose which colour I want? I don’t want to go too dark!

Please let your therapist know what results you are looking for. Our therapists will offer the best advice on what shade of tint to opt for, best suiting your hair and skin tone. Ideally you should opt for the colour to be 1-2 shades lighter/darker than your hair colour.

Do I need a patch test for tinting?

As our client your health & safety is our top priority. Yes, you require a patch test 48 hours prior to the treatment, if you haven’t had the tint treatment carried out from our salons before or within the last 6 months and no changes in your medical history. The patch test involves having a small amount of dye applied behind your ear, this process only takes seconds to do this. Please don’t get annoyed if you haven’t factored this in time, you may have seen horrific things happening, therefore this cannot be skipped. You can pop into any of your nearest elegance salons/bars at any time to have this done.

I am pregnant, is this suitable for me?

We encourage clients to avoid tinting during the time of pregnancy, as a reaction from the tint is more likely to occur due to hormonal changes. If this did happen, you would not be able to take medication due to pregnancy.

What should I be doing after my treatment, are there any restrictions?

Tinting aftercare

Avoid eye make up for 12 hours

Avoid/touching or rubbing your eyes straight after the treatment

For 24 hours avoid sauna, swimming, and sunbeds

Although we do make sure every trace of dye is removed, it is possible that residue may still remain

Use oil free based products around the eye area to prolong the colour

If any redness or irritation occurs, apply a damp cotton wool compress. If symptoms persist more than 24 hours seek medical advice
